Thats what it's all about:
"AI may learn to play music and grow smarter than us, but it will never play along its own heartbeat!
The idea behind Heartbeat Drumming is simple: I play the drums at the tempo of my own heartbeat.
That is, I take my heart as an unsteady natural metronome.
Playing the drums in this way is an intense, I’d even say transcendent experience. I take my heart as an unsteady natural metronome, while constantly adapting the pace of my drumming. Connected to my inner beat, I am simultaneously suspended between total freedom and total dependence at the same time, while the conscious and the subconscious „me“ work together.
To a large extent, being a drummer today means striving for quantification. Heartbeat Drumming takes the opposite approach, offering a new (or maybe old) perspective on drumming and music more generally. Personally I am fascinated by the primordiality and immediacy of the concept. I mean this not in the sense of primitive, but in the sense of a simple and yet complex naturalness.
Heartbeat drumming makes no claim to technical perfection or steadiness in the conventional sense. Rather, it is music that emerges from a playful dialogue between the performers body and mind, on the one hand, and his environment, on the other. Every time I perform heartbeat drumming, it reminds me of how vulnerable we are, and how fragile what we take for granted is. Our heart accompanies us every day, so let’s not forget to listen to it every now and again.
I truly enjoyed making this record, and I hope you’ll enjoy it too.“

About the making of the album:
This is a recording of an improvised 37-minute one-take drum performance I played live in the studio for a small audience. It was the opening show for a series of three studio concerts. It took place at Mazzive Sound Studios in Bellmund. The live setting generated a sense of intense urgency, with everything emerging from the moment and only from the moment. Since it was a concert, I didn’t leave room for a second take. I wanted the moment to count. It was a journey out into an open field. The only condition I set for myself was to play at the tempo of my heartbeat. The ambient drone is a multi-layered soundscape I recorded in advance, which was played back during the show. Using a heart-rate belt, I could hear my pulse as a clicking sound in my headphones. No editing or overdubbing was done in post-production.
